Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQ

When should I expect my estimate?
Most of the time, we can provide a detailed proposal within 24 hours of the on-site estimate. We like to take our time and make sure everything is considered, and nothing is missed. The price on the quote includes all materials, labor and tax. What you see is what you pay. In certain cases, we can expedite the quoting process and deliver one within the hour.

What should I do to get ready for the estimate?
It’s generally best that all the decision-makers are present during the site-viewing. Whether or not that’s possible, we always recommend the following:

  • Make a list of all the work you want done for each room or on the exterior of your home or business.
  • Choose colors and/or finishes (if applicable).
  • Make a list of what you did and did not like about your last paint job, painter or contractor.
  • Identify your budget. We realize that painting or having work done to your home is a major investment. We want to earn your business and can tailor a proposal for every budget.
  • Prepare any questions you may have for us.
  • The site-viewing can take anywhere between 30-90 minutes, generally it’s closer to 45.

How long before the work will begin?
Generally, 1-3 weeks after a signed contract (and color selections if applicable. We can’t always schedule properly until we have both). However, we have flexible, professional crews and will always try to accommodate your timeline.

Can you separate the bid into several parts or include line items?
Definitely! We realize you may have other priorities and we are happy to help in any way we can! Get your job done all at once, or piece-by-piece.

Can you fix my drywall, rotting wood or cracked stucco?:
Absolutely. We take pride in our commitment to serve you. We provide an assortment of services to serve almost every need. We can fix or replace rotting wood, wood siding, damaged stucco, drywall, and perform small carpentry jobs! Just because it isn’t listed doesn’t mean we can’t do it! Even if there is extensive damage, we can find a solution.

Painting FAQ

What type of paint do you use?
We work with products that work. We’ve grown partial to suppliers that include Sherwin-Williams, General Paint, Benjamin Moore and Cloverdale, but we’ll use any brand you like. We can recommend a variety of zero and low-VOC paints for low odor and better health. We always try to be eco-friendly every chance we get.

How will the paint be applied (brush, roll, spray)?
While each job varies, a combination of brush and roll is generally used to paint walls, ceilings, and trim. We spray cabinetry for a high-quality finish. Exterior siding is commonly sprayed, as is a job with large amounts of new drywall.

What should I do to prepare for painting after we sign a contract?
Before the scheduled start date, we ask that you move valuable or breakable items, for example, pictures, glassware, and electronic devices when possible. We can move furniture if needed. When the room is done, we move everything back.

What happens to the leftover paint?
That’s up to you! We always like to leave a little bit of touch-up paint, but if you don’t want it or there’s a bit too much, we take it to a local recycling facility. After it gets dropped off it makes its way to a paint recycling plant where all the similar paints are mixed together to create recycled paints of varying colors which are then re-sold.

When does your painting season end?
Over the years we’ve seen it fluctuate quite a bit. We’ve worked out efficient practices with excellent products that allow us to paint until the first rain drop falls, and in temperatures as low as -5ºC. We perform interior work year-round.

Do you offer any commercial painting services?
Yes, we offer many commercial services all year long. We can paint both the exteriors and interiors of buildings including new construction, renovations, offices, apartment complexes, condos and more.

Why should I choose FPSC as my painting company?
